UPMC has made great strides over the last several years in their systemwide efforts to conserve water and energy, reduce infectious and solid waste, and decrease the use of toxic chemicals.

Polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, is one of the most common, and one of the most toxic, plastics on the market today. 'Sam Suds and the Case of PVC, the Poison Plastic' is an entertaining and educational, short video (about 3 minutes) from the Be Safe Initiative of the Center for Health, Environment and Justice.
